Mitsubishi concept car
Mitsubishi has teased a new SUV concept that is expected to be an extended version of the XForce, which is currently available in Southeast Asian markets like the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and other ASEAN countries. The XForce SUV, designed to rival the Hyundai Creta in these regions, is now set to expand its offering with this new model. The upcoming SUV aims to compete with larger, seven-seater models like the Hyundai Alcazar, with a design that shares much of the XForce’s core elements but adds some distinct touches.
The teaser reveals that while the new SUV will inherit much of the XForce’s aesthetic and features, it will be distinguished by its extended wheelbase and some unique styling elements. This extended length will make it more spacious and better suited for families, with a seating capacity of seven, setting it apart from the five-seater XForce.
Inside, the new SUV will maintain many of the features found in the XForce’s cabin. These include the same dashboard layout and technology features, such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 8-speaker sound system developed in collaboration with Yamaha. These features will likely appeal to tech-savvy buyers looking for modern conveniences and a high-quality sound experience. The center console will also feature multiple USB ports, smartphone holders, and a wireless charger to keep passengers connected and charged during their travels. In addition, the rear seats in this new model will be reclinable, offering added comfort for passengers, especially on long journeys.
Under the hood, Mitsubishi is expected to equip the SUV with the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine as the XForce. This engine delivers 105hp and 141Nm of torque, which, while modest, should offer sufficient performance for everyday driving needs. The SUV will come with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) as standard and will offer four driving modes—Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud—allowing the vehicle to handle a range of road conditions and terrains.
While this new SUV appears to be targeted primarily at emerging markets in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand, there is no official confirmation regarding its release in India. Mitsubishi’s presence in India has been limited in recent years, though its sister brands Renault and Nissan have seen continued success in the market with models like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Whether Mitsubishi will bring this new SUV to India remains uncertain, but the brand's continued focus on Southeast Asian markets suggests that it may prioritize those regions for now.

Despite Mitsubishi’s global alliance with Renault-Nissan, the brand has yet to confirm any plans to re-enter the Indian market. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi’s sister brands Renault and Nissan continue to perform well in India with models like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite, with upcoming launches including the all-new Duster and its Nissan counterpart, as well as their seven-seater versions.
