Royal Enfield’s Goan Classic 350

Royal Enfield has added a new member to its iconic 350cc lineup—the Goan Classic 350. This bobber-style motorcycle is a tribute to the retro aesthetics of the Classic 350, but with modern enhancements. Unveiled at the Motoverse 2024 event in Goa, the bike is priced at ₹2.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai) for the base variant and ₹2.38 lakh for the top variant.

Key Highlights

  • A premium price: ₹42,000 more than the Classic 350.
  • Unchanged heart: Retains the reliable 349cc engine.
  • Distinct design: Low-slung bobber stance with stylish white-wall tires.

Design and Features

The Goan Classic 350 is a blend of bold design elements and subtle tweaks, including:

  • Unique Style:
    • Mini ape-hanger handlebars.
    • Single-seat layout with an optional removable pillion seat.
    • A striking low-slung design that screams bobber heritage.
  • Wheels & Tires:
    • Equipped with tubeless CEAT white-wall tires—a first in Royal Enfield’s 350cc segment.
    • Spoked rims with a 16-inch rear wheel (replacing the 18-inch in the Classic 350) and a 19-inch front wheel.
  • Premium Components:
    • Metal switch cubes borrowed from Royal Enfield’s premium 650cc lineup.
    • Optional Tripper navigation pod alongside a familiar instrument cluster.
  • Colours:
Offered in four vibrant options—Purple Haze, Rave Red, Trip Teal, and Shack Black.

Chassis and Suspension

The Goan Classic 350 is based on the same twin-downtube spine frame as the Classic 350 but features slight enhancements:

  • Rear suspension travel has been increased to 105mm (up from 90mm).
  • Telescopic forks and twin-tube emulsion shock absorbers with preload adjustment.

Engine and Performance

The 349cc J-Series engine remains mechanically unchanged, delivering:

  • Power: 20.2 bhp.
  • Torque: 27 Nm.
  • Transmission: 5-speed gearbox.

Despite a 2kg weight increase (now at 197kg), the Goan Classic ensures a smooth riding experience.

Pricing and Variants

The Goan Classic 350 commands a premium over the Classic 350:

  • Single-tone colours: ₹2.35 lakh.
  • Dual-tone Race Red variant: ₹2.38 lakh.

This price hike reflects the unique styling and enhanced features, positioning the bike as a premium lifestyle offering.

The Verdict

The Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 is more than just a motorcycle; it’s a statement of style and heritage. Whether you're cruising through the vibrant streets of Goa or the urban jungles, this bike promises to turn heads with its classic bobber charm.
