Taycan
Porsche India has unveiled the pricing for the facelifted 2024 Taycan electric sedan on its website. The Taycan, Porsche’s all-electric flagship sedan that has been on Indian roads since 2021, now boasts significant improvements in both design and performance. The refreshed Taycan will be available in two premium variants for the Indian market: the Taycan 4S and the Taycan Turbo, priced at Rs 1.89 crore and Rs 2.53 crore (ex-showroom), respectively. These updates bring more power, advanced features, and a longer range, positioning the Taycan as a serious contender among luxury electric vehicles in India.
The facelifted Taycan, which was introduced globally earlier this year, benefits from a series of subtle aesthetic refinements. While Porsche has maintained the Taycan’s sleek and athletic profile, updates to its exterior elements like the bumpers, grille, and LED lighting give it a modernized yet distinctive look. Interior enhancements offer a premium feel with advanced tech and luxury finishes to meet the expectations of high-end customers.
Under the hood, Porsche has taken the Taycan’s performance to the next level with more powerful electric motors and larger battery options. The dual-motor setup on both variants delivers a remarkable output. The Taycan 4S produces 537 BHP and 695 Nm of torque with its 89 kWh battery, while the more powerful Taycan Turbo variant generates a substantial 872 BHP and 890 Nm torque from its larger 105 kWh battery pack. This power boost aligns the Taycan with high-performance standards, competing closely with electric luxury vehicles from brands like Tesla and Audi.
One of the standout features of the 2024 Taycan facelift is its improved driving range. The Taycan 4S now offers an estimated range of up to 642 km on a full charge, while the Turbo variant provides up to 630 km (as per the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure, or WLTP). This increased range is likely to appeal to Indian consumers who prioritize long-distance travel and minimal downtime for charging.
The Taycan also features Porsche’s fast-charging technology, capable of delivering significant range with a short charging time, thanks to its 800-volt architecture. Using a DC fast charger, the Taycan can charge from 5% to 80% in just over 20 minutes, ensuring it’s road-ready in no time.
Both the Taycan 4S and Turbo come equipped with Porsche’s industry-leading Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as standard, which adjusts damping force for an optimal balance between comfort and performance. The top-of-the-line Turbo model is further enhanced with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) for improved handling and cornering stability, and the Sport Chrono package, which offers enhanced performance metrics and track-ready features for driving enthusiasts.
The Taycan’s design and engineering ensure it’s not only a daily driver but also a car that can handle the occasional performance thrill. With its low center of gravity and advanced aerodynamics, the Taycan delivers a dynamic driving experience synonymous with Porsche's legacy in motorsports.
While Porsche has released details and pricing for the 4S and Turbo variants in India, the lineup will also include a base single-motor variant, as well as Turbo S and Turbo GT trims. These additional models are expected to cater to a wide range of buyers, from those seeking a luxury EV experience to enthusiasts who desire maximum performance. Pricing for these variants will be announced in the near future, and they are likely to further bolster Porsche's presence in the Indian EV market.
With the 2024 Taycan facelift, Porsche is making a bold statement in the Indian luxury EV market, which is currently expanding with entrants like Tesla, Audi e-Tron, and Mercedes-Benz EQS. Porsche’s focus on high-performance EVs with cutting-edge design and technology is expected to attract affluent buyers who prioritize both sustainability and luxury. The Taycan’s premium pricing and performance-driven design make it a natural fit for the evolving preferences of India’s elite consumer base.
