At the Auto Expo 2025, MG Motor India stole the spotlight by unveiling the MG Cyberster, a drop-top electric roadster that blends heritage-inspired design with cutting-edge EV technology. The Cyberster, MG’s first electric sports car, is set to redefine the electric vehicle landscape in India.

Pre-Bookings Open, Deliveries Start in April

MG Motor India, now operating as JSW-MG Motor India, announced pre-reservations for the Cyberster during the expo, with official bookings set to commence in March 2025. Deliveries will follow swiftly in April 2025. The Cyberster will be sold exclusively through MG Select, a premium retail network that will also offer the MG Mifa 9 MPV, rebranded as the M9 for the Indian market.

Performance: A Sports Car at Heart

The India-spec Cyberster features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup powered by a 77kWh battery pack, delivering a massive 510hp and 725Nm of torque. This configuration propels the Cyberster from 0 to 100kph in a blistering 3.2 seconds, with a CLTC-rated range of 580km. MG hinted at introducing a more affordable rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version with a smaller 64kWh battery depending on market response.

Futuristic Interior Packed with Tech

Inside, the Cyberster offers a futuristic yet functional cabin:

  • A 10.25-inch driver’s display is flanked by two 7-inch screens, creating a driver-focused cockpit.
  • A waterfall-style central console houses a vertically mounted 7-inch touchscreen alongside touch-operated HVAC controls and a drive selector.
  • Electronically operated scissor doors and a folding soft-top roof hidden behind roll bars enhance its sporty character.
  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and front collision warning.
  • Entertainment is elevated with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 360-degree parking camera.

Striking Design with Heritage Cues

Paying homage to the iconic MG B Roadster, the Cyberster combines classic roadster aesthetics with modern EV design. Key highlights include:

  • A bold, sealed nose with an upward-swooping air dam for a “smiling” front profile.
  • Arrow-shaped tail-lights connected by an LED light bar.
  • Aggressive split rear diffuser in black finish.
  • 20-inch alloy wheels and an aerodynamic silhouette complete its premium look.

It also becomes the first EV in India to feature scissor doors, offering a dramatic entry and exit experience.

Colors and Variants

The Cyberster will launch in four color options in India: red, grey, white, and yellow. Globally, it is available in six colors, reflecting MG’s efforts to cater to diverse tastes.

A Milestone for MG in India

Priced competitively (expected to be announced soon), the Cyberster is set to cater to India’s growing base of affluent, tech-savvy buyers seeking a blend of luxury, performance, and sustainability. Its exclusivity as a fully imported unit (CBU) underlines its premium positioning.

As MG continues to expand its electric portfolio, the Cyberster is more than just a sports car—it’s a statement of MG’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of EV innovation in India. Deliveries start in April 2025, and enthusiasts better act fast—this one’s bound to be a showstopper.
