/Tata Harrier EV Debuts in Production Spec at Auto Expo 2025: A Bold Leap Into Electrification
At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Tata Motors has officially unveiled the production-spec version of its flagship electric SUV, the Tata Harrier EV. First showcased as a concept at Auto Expo 2023, the Harrier EV is Tata’s largest and most ambitious electric vehicle to date, marking a significant evolution in India’s EV landscape.
The Harrier EV retains its ICE sibling's silhouette but features distinctive EV-specific tweaks. Up front, it flaunts a closed grille with an illuminated Tata logo, end-to-end LED light bars, and vertically stacked full-LED headlamps. The redesigned bumpers, aero-optimized alloy wheels, and .EV
badging further differentiate it from its ICE counterpart.
The highlight at the Expo was the Stealth Edition, finished in a matte black paint that exudes aggression. This edition also features a blacked-out cabin to complement the exterior’s bold look.
Inside, the Harrier EV adopts Tata's EV family palette while retaining the spaciousness of the Harrier lineup. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system running the new Archade.ev interface takes center stage, paired with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Creature comforts include:
Notably, the SUV supports Level 2 ADAS, offering features like adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation. The Harrier EV also includes vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capabilities, adding utility to its advanced feature set.
Built on the Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture, the Harrier EV benefits from Tata’s heavily electrified OMEGA platform, derived from Land Rover. The SUV is powered by a dual-motor setup, offering all-wheel drive (AWD) for the first time in Tata’s lineup. It generates an impressive 500Nm of peak torque, ensuring thrilling performance.
Tata has hinted at two battery options, likely including a long-range dual-motor variant. While exact range figures remain under wraps, it’s expected to challenge competitors with a range comparable to industry benchmarks.
Tata Motors wowed the audience with its ‘summon’ feature, showcasing the Harrier EV rolling onto the stage autonomously—an impressive nod to futuristic functionality.
Positioned as a mid-size electric SUV, the Harrier EV will take on the Maruti e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra BE 6. With an estimated price of ₹25-30 lakh (ex-showroom) and production set to commence shortly, the Harrier EV is poised to strengthen Tata’s dominance in India’s burgeoning EV segment.
The Tata Harrier EV underscores the carmaker’s commitment to electrification, blending advanced technology with practicality. As Tata continues to expand its EV portfolio, the Harrier EV stands as a bold statement of intent, reshaping expectations for Indian-made electric SUVs.
