Cadillac and TWG Motorsports have joined forces to establish GM Performance Power Units LLC, a new venture aimed at developing future engines for Cadillac’s Formula 1 team. This marks a significant milestone in Cadillac's F1 ambitions as it prepares to enter the sport in 2026, initially running Ferrari-supplied engines before transitioning to its own power units.

The new engine company, which will serve as the backbone of Cadillac's F1 project, will lay the groundwork for the team to eventually evolve into a fully self-reliant operation. Leading the engine company is Russ O’Blenes, former director of GM’s motorsports propulsion and performance team, known for its work on Cadillac and Corvette engines. O’Blenes’ extensive experience in high-performance motorsport engineering will play a crucial role as the company builds the next generation of F1 engines under Cadillac's banner.

Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG, expressed his enthusiasm for O’Blenes' appointment, stating that his leadership will be pivotal as the company shapes Cadillac's F1 journey. Towriss emphasized that O’Blenes' expertise will help set the foundation for a competitive presence in Formula 1, bringing a mix of technical innovation and motorsport heritage to the forefront.

This move further enhances General Motors' expanding footprint in global motorsports, as Cadillac's F1 entry will join its existing commitments in IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) and other racing series.
